This is why I think we should not have homeowkr for the rest of the schoolyear. Mr. Pollitt for the whole schoolyear we have been working very hard and its getting hot lately. Now is the time when we kids get our exercise and the most fun than any other season. I think that taking away homework will actually give us more time to play outside, to live healthier. I think that since we no longer have Reading Logs, Book Reports, or tests you should take away our homework as well. What is the point of having homework if we don't need to learn anything else for the rest of the year? We are going to have a math packet this year anyway so is their a point of any more work? In my eyes, summer is supposed to be about fun and relaxation. Why should we get stressed and overworked at a happy time like this? School is almost over and we should all be happy and mellow.

I think that if school is really hot it should TOTALLY be cancelled. It gets so hot and stuffy in the school that it is unbearable. Who wants to do schoolwork when its over 100 degrees out?I can't even sit in my chair without sweating. I'm sure I would start sweating doing NOTHING at all. That is how hot out it is. It is a struggle to breathe sometimes because of the crazy heat. School should be cancelled.

Stewart School Opera review
3/5 stars

I thought the singing was impressive. The acting was okay. I thought the scene transactions were good as well. The only problem is it didn't have very much excitement. It was kind of like a lullaby where as a play would have singing and fun. I guess I am just not used to operas. The singing was very good though. The music was nice. The singing was swell and the kids really reached the high notes well. I especially liked, the Dark Queen's, high notes as they were very loud. Not everybody knew what they were doing though. When the animals were getting into their spots it took them a long time. It was also shorter than I thought it would be. All in all it is was an above-average performance.

I think that Obama deserves to clinch the Democratic Presidential Nominee. Obama has gone through so much and it must feel great to make it this far. I think Obama should become the president. Why you ask? Well, for many reasons but here are my MAIN two. Obama is much younger than John McCain. This means that Obama will be around longer -knock on wood-. John McCain is in his 70's while Obama is only in his 40's. I think that because Obama is black/african-american he is also proving that an African-American can be a president and can meet their goals. Ever since slavery people have treated black people poorly. If Obama wins racism may die down and everyone will be nicer and happier. In the end, even though I still like John McCain, but Obama should definately win!

I think that Obama should win and Hillary should drop out. She is being arrogant. I don't think that it is right to go around thinking "The Super-delegates can still pick me! I STILL HAVE A CHANCE!" She's worked really hard but now it is time for her to drop out and let Obama be the Democratic Nominee for president. This is what I think should be done.

In this article, mother, Joanne Alverez gave her daughter, Taylor Webster, 6, an adult pain-relieving patch, which killed her. In this sad story, Taylor was having a headache. Joanne gave Taylor motrin but that did not help. Many said she was a kind and loving mothers. Others said she was not. She was found passed out at 3:00 PM in her bedroom. She was later pronuouned dead at 5:10 PM at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Smith said Alvarez was a "very loving mother." But, neighbor Erica Ortiz  said.

"This was a very strange woman," she said. "I never saw her show these kids love. She didn't treat her foster kids with respect." The acs is also:

The ACS was looking into whether Alvarez excessively spanked a child in her care. It could not be determined if the spanking case involved Taylor or another child in her care.

So, our class (the Pollitt's) are working on the courtyard. I think we should build a bench out of wood scraps and paint it then carve our names on it. That way everyone will remember us. I think this should be a classroom. People can learn about nature while having fun. The courtyard would be EXCELLENT for Science. I think the school will be really happy if we do this.

WHAT I WOULD NAME MY HORSE:

I would name my horse "The Cookie Monster". Imagine everyone's surprise when the announcer screams "The Cookie Monster is coming around the corner. The Cookie Monster! The Cookie Monster is winning! The Cookie Monster won!!! I think that would be hilarious.

Personally, I think Hilary should drop out. It says that America shouldn't have a president that quits, but by saying that she is basically saying she WILL BECOME the presidential nominee even though Barack is ahead. I think Barrack Obama will win.

I am surprised by this. I mean we aren't on the top 5 for dirtiest cities, but we aren't on the top 5 for the cleanest air cities. I thought our air is pretty clean on Long Island. But, we do need to work on pollution. We have too much from traffic, and factories.

The westing game is no doubt one of the best book I've ever read. I rate it 5/5 stars. I would reccomend this book to a book lover, a mystery lover or someone that just wants to read a good book. The book is a mystery and I don't want to tell you what its about so go read it! Ellen Raskin the author is very clever. I would not be able to think of such a good plot. Overall, this was an amazing book.

I am so happy. We did our pacers two days ago and I met my goal! I got 41 laps across the gym. My goal was 40. Luciano, my partner Luciano got 67. His goal was 60+. So, we both met our goal. Today we had Art and I made the best owl. It rocked. I only used three colors, Brown, Tan, and Purple. I don't know why I used purple but I did. It is REALLY nice out so I'm happy about that. I really don't know what to write. My favorite sport is Soccer. My record for soccer juggles is 17. I can do better, but its really hard :P I can juggle really good. I learned in gym a few months ago. Juggling is fun, but I need to get smaller balls that I can use. I use tennisballs but sometimes they don't fit in my hand. That's all for now. See ya!

Personally, I think Barrack WILL win. I think that he is going to win because of many reasons. I think Barrack will win for many reasons. One reason is the past three presidents were Clinton’s and Bush’s and a lot of people want a new president to come. Also, I think he has the people's vote. Many people like what he says he will do. Healthcare and NO war. I heard on TV many actors like Barrack because Oprah is rooting and endorsing him.

Today my homework is to persuade Mr. Pollitt. I hope you like my letter!

2/14/08

Dear Mr. Pollitt,

I think we should change the desks and tables into the rectangular tables. I think this because there are many positive reasons why we should. It would make it easier for you to see if someone was talking and to switch they're seats. It would also be much easier for you to catch anybody when they do something bad. I also think it would be better because the students will be more interested in the new desks and will learn better. Another reason would be we would learn how to work together because we all share one desk. We would learn responsibility, and teamwork and everything else. This is why I think we should get rectangular tables.

I think we should do a podcast on how we can make someone, or how someone made us, feel special. I think that would be cool. Another idea would be we could make a movie showing how we show someone they are special.

Dear Mickey,

Hey Mickey! I got back from the Philippines on Saturday and my Christmas was great! I spent time with my relatives. We put off more than 30 fireworks in the streets because it is legal there. Everything was so fun. We played a lot of games in my Grandpa's backyard. It was really big. We went to the flea market to buy bb guns and bought drinks at the sari-sari store which is a store run by a family that sells drinks and snacks and foods. It was a lot of fun. Merry late Christmas!

Homework Part I:

If I picked a word, any word, I would definitely pick "sipal" for pencil. I would pick this word because "lapis" means pencil in Filipino. I made it backwards and it is sipal. It sounds good and is easy to say too!

Homework Part II:

The New England Patriots made history for winning 16 consecutive games on December 29! They beat the Dolphins' previous record of 14 consecutive games. They kept their winning streak tight with a big win beating the giants 38-35. More than 30 million fans viewed this historic event on TV, and at the stadium.

I think what these scientists are trying to do is a really good thing. I am happy they are trying to change something bad. They are doing it for a very good cause. Global Warming and Carbon Dioxide really are a big problem.

Risky Business

I took a very big chance
Some might call it a risk
I purposely slipped on a banana peel
And broke my left wrist

My mom got pretty mad
But isn't mad anymore
Until I did something wicked
To the kitchen door

I accidentally walked into the door
And skinned my right knee
I got so angry
I punched the door, like it would bleed

I didn't know my own strength
And it split right in half!
I got the tape quickly
And tried to make it go back

It never worked and I got grounded
It felt like I was in a ditch
I was grounded from the fifth until the fifteenth
I guess I deserve it, but I am not bad!

Hello! This is my Wiki assignment. Hope you enjoy it!

What happened to the Warden?

What happened to the warden? Stanley wondered this day after day. What happened to Mr. Pendanski or Mr. Sir? Where were they taken? What Stanley didn't know was the warden wasn't taken anywhere.

You see, the warden happens to "know people". She got out of jail. She started a new camp called "Camp Blue Lake" and runs it with Mr. Sir and Mr. Pendanski again. There are many kids there along with many counselors. Mean counselors.

Will this ever stop?

King Tutankhamen was only nine years old when he became pharaoh. Now, he is over a million years old and everyone can see him. They moved him from his sarcophagus into a glass case! I would love to see that. The plan was too save him from heat and humidity and it is working excellent! He wasn't the most powerful ruler but he certainly was a great story!

This is my math journal problem:

Johnny Twoshoes is walking home from school. His school is exactly 166 feet from where he lives. It takes him approximately 24 minutes to get home. The shortcut he took on Wednesday shortens the amount of feet to 124 feet. It takes him approximately 16 minutes. What is the difference between the amount of feet and the amount of minutes?

I think the opera is going to be fun. Not only do we get to see a dress rehearsal of a famous play we get to see them from up high! Plus, we get cool Coach Buses to go in. I think the opera will be cool. In music class we learned a little about the play and I think it will be cool and fun to watch.

Hey, everyone I'm back for some more homework!!!

I think that maturity is listening to basic instructions. I think that maturity is also keeping yourself under control. No matter how much you want to say that one thing that you know everyone will laugh at you don't do it. Maturity is choosing the right path when you are at crossroads between "Laughing" or "Keeping quiet". Attempting to try to stop your problem. That is what I define maturity as.

This is a very cool article. I think that Marion Jones's coach is to blame though. She forced Marion to take illegal drugs for THREE YEARS!! It is wrong. Still, Marion should've confessed because the punishment wouldn't have been as bad. I'm just happy she finally confessed. It was the right thing to do. I also think it was good of her to return her Olympic Medals.

Hey, this is my Homework. I have to write a paragraph on Podcasting:

I think that Podcasting is great! It could really help get the message out on many different subjects. It is amazing what technology can do these days! I thought it was really cool all the things that the program "Audacity" which Mr. Pollitt showed us could do! Also, you could change your voice and stuff on a little microphone. We are going to make podcasts for A Scary Story we wrote. I think it would be cool to change our voice for our different characters. I think podcasting is great!

Bullying can come in many forms. It is very mean. Bullying can be Physical, Emotional, or on the Internet. Bullying can also come from anyone. Teachers, kids, and people you don't know... even your parents! Bullying is basically making someone feel bad so you can feel good. People that bully either never learned how to be nice or have some kind of emotional problem. They like to bully, because they like the power it gives them. Physical bullying is punching and kicking people. Emotional bullying is hurting someone by saying something. Internet Bullying is harassing someone on the internet by AIM or IM. Lastly, don't be afraid to tell on someone because it's the right thing to do.

I think that Ana Dodson is doing a very good thing. She was born in Peru and started the Peruvian Hearts foundation. They are a non-profit charity. They help raise money for poor Peruvian orphanages. They raised over $50,000 for one of them. I think that it is amazing. Ana was adopted at the Cusco Orphanage. At the Cusco Orphanage the girls was malnourished and wore dirty clothes. Thanks to Ana they all are healthy and have other great essentials. When the girls felt like they were forgotten Ana took a stand and look what happened!

Today we are starting to write a scary story. Here are five things that I think make a good story.

- A good scary name
- A spooky name for your CREEPY town
- Odd, exciting characters that you sometimes love, and sometimes hate
- Lots of mystery and stuff that misleads you/a good plot
- The bad guy has to be weird and creepy, but he/she also has to have a motive

Hey, everyone :). Luciano and I my friend made up a story. We are both putting it up on our wiki. The story is about two crazy, not very smart monsters named "Shuguhguh, and Hector". They go on all kinds of crazy adventures on their planet "Donnonaute". It is supposed to be a mix of comedy and adventure. Something like that .In the first chapter Shuguhguh and Hector don't know each other yet. They both hear footsteps coming down a stairway because they live in the same cabin/apartment. They go to the stairway and it turns out they were making the footsteps. They both talked and laughed and ended up becoming friends. In this story they also get into a lot of trouble. It is very weird. . But, Luciano and I both hope this book will turn out to be good.

Peace out, Drew.

Hey! I'm Drew. But, of course you probably already know that. Well, this is my first entry in Mr. Pollitts online journal. Isn't that AWESOME? I was really happy when I learned I would be getting Mr. Pollitt as a teacher, but I didn't know it would this great!

I have a dog named Snowball. He is a Bichon Frise. He is white and pretty furry . I love to play Soccer. I play it at recess. I think it is really fun. It's my favorite sport besides, tennis. I also like to swim. One of my favorite things to do is Skateboard. I have a skateboard by the brand Speed Demons.

My cousins also skate. I can't do many tricks though. In school we are going over 4th grade stuff. It is easy. ^_^ I might get another dog on my brithday next year. I still have no clue what to name him. Kenny, Joey, and Daphne were in my class last year and this year. I also have play the piano, guitar, and trumpet. I want to be either a Musician or Doctor when I grow up. I also have a weird talent. I can say AND spell a really long word It is fourty-five letters long. It is

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanokoniosis.
I don't know how I learned to spell that. I guess I just tried and ended up being right I don't love school, but this year it is okay. So far. Today we had picture day. We had to take individual pictures, class pictures and a picture for the whole fifth grade together.
