Westing Game

 

      Today we watch the Westing game, or as the movie is called Get a Clue.  I really liked the movie.  It was very different though.  There wasn't Theo or Flora Bamback.  I thought it would be a lot better if they had them.  And they ended off with Mr Westing telling Turtle to tell him everything that happens.  And only Turtle knows who he is.  But I still did like the movie a lot better than the book The Westing game.

      I liked it more because the book was a little confusing.  Not really but you couldn't really visulize it that well.  Also the movie was different and I thought it was a little more exciting.  But that might be because I knew what would happen if it was exactly like the book.  You should buy the movie.  Just remember the name Get a Clue I'm sure you will enjoy it.

     Hi everyone!!  Sorry I haven't written in a while!  I've just been so busy, I mean it's the end of the year!  This will be my last time writting in the wiki in the school year.  We can write on it in the summer but Mr. Pollitt hasen't told us the details yet.  I hope I can I will be very busy though so I might not get the chance to write a lot.  I'm really going to miss Stratford.  I'm going to the middle school next year.  I know I will miss Mr. Pollitt.  I wish that Mr. Pollitt could come to the middle school.  But I know that Mr. Pollitt will stay at Stratford.  Guess what.  We had to take a sixth grade math test.  It is sooooooooooooo hard I don't understand most of it.  And I still haven't finished it because I had to go to quest.  I really don't want to do it but I'm most likely going to have to do it today.  Well, maybe I'll talk to you all in the summer!!  Bye for now!!!!!!!!!!!!

     End of the Year Projects

 

      In class we have to think about a few projects that we could end the year off with.  We are going to think of these projects with the people at our table.  We all had a lot of great ideas but I thought that the newspaper was the best.  Yes we did one in class but it will be a lot easier because we will have more time to do it and there will be less people so everyone could make a few articles and we would have a weekly newspaper.  I think we could do some articles that have to do with school and others would be the outside world.  It would have to do with school because we could do an interesting moment in history for social studies, a way to conserve the earth for science and for math we could put up a brain buster.  In my opinion I think everyone should write at least 3 articles.  We could go around the school and make a graph too.  If we did this we could all have sooooo much fun and would be able to get really involved.  I think we should do the newspaper, I can't wait to find out what we will be doing!!!!

A Picture

 

      Once there was a girl named Casey.  She came from a poor family of 5 children.  Although Casey was poor she was always happy.  She was always so sweet and gentle and would spend her days out on the farm behind them with the animals.  Casey loved spending her days on the farm with all of the animals, they were her friends and she loved to talk to them and play with all of them.  Casey was 15 and for her previous birthdays her parents wouldn't get her anything because they could barely afford food.  But Casey never really minded, all she needed was her family and friends.  Casey never suspected that her parents were saving up.  They have been saving up since her oldest brother Brendan was born.  And now that Brendan was 22 they have been saving up for about 22 years.  Casey's father went in to the city one day and he found a new job that paid a lot more so he took it.  On Casey's 16th birthday her parents told her that they had to move into the city for her father's new job.  Casey was devastated, but what could she do.  So the next day Casey packed up her things.  2 days later they made the move.  Now Casey lived in a small apartment with her family of 7.  Since Casey was now 16 her mother said it was time she joined the rest of the family and found a job.  Casey was very optimistic so she tried to find the good in this change.  She found a job at a diner as a waitress, it didn't pay much but it would have to do.  What else could she do?  She worked from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  When she got home the whole family was there.  They all had eaten but they left a little for Casey.  And it as the exact same from then on.  One day she met someone in the diner.  He was a photographer.  She loved his pictures and was very intrigued in photography.  So she decided that she would do exactly what her parents did, she would save up.  A year later Casey had just enough money for a messed up piece of junk that was once a camera for $50.00.  But Casey didn't care, she had a camera, now she could take pictures and show them off to the family.  It turns out that Casey was a fabulous photographer.  She would take pictures of everything, flowers, people, and anything she found beautiful of interesting.  One day on her way to work she saw a poster up it was a photography competition.  All you had to do was take one picture and mail it to the address on the poster.  There was also a cash prize.  It was $10,000.00.  Casey decided to give it a try and enter a picture in the contest.  One day when she was off of work she went back to the farm.  She took pictures of all of the animals.  Finally she decided that she would use the one of the little chicks.  So she entered the contest and went about as she usually would.  5 weeks later she received a letter in the mail.  SHE WON!!!!  She was sooooo happy.  They said that it was so original and that no one else entered anything as beautiful or as sweet.  Casey immediantely told her family.  She took them all out and for once they had a real meal.  Then she put the rest of the money into her bank to save up.  Casey continued entering contest and won a great deal of them.  Soon Casey became a famous photographer and her family was healthy and happy.  They all lived together in a big house right next to the farm Casey always loved.

                                                                                             Constitution Works

 

      Hi everyone!!  I know I haven't written in a while and I am sorry!!!  But I have been very very busy!  Guess what. Constitution Works is tomorrow.  I'am the back up chief lawyer for Denver Dispatch!  Sara is the real chief lawyer but she has been sick and I was voted 2nd.  I really don't mind if Sara comes back (to tell you the truth I feel sorry she might miss it and I want her to come back, I am not mean I really am not.  Sara is nice and is also a great chief lawyer).  But if she doesn't I'll be fine too!  ( Hi everyone, if you are wondering why I'm doing this parenthesis is because I'm tring to beat Casey (we are very competitive) and I'm not going to lose this time.  She is!!!  I'm very very very very competitive so I'm going to get back to constitution now!!!!!!!!!!!)  I think I'm going to do very well though if Sara doesn't come!!  I'm going to borrow my friends heals, they are so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I love Constitution Works!!!!  Wish me luck.

The Ultimate Theme Park 

 

      Hi!!!  Guess what.  I just came back from the best theme park ever.  It's called Thriller Theme Park.  I went there for a party.  It was awesome!!  We got to go on any ride we wanted (but we had to be a certain height for each ride).  We all went on the tour at first.  It was really exciting to find out how all the rides were made!!  First we went on what I thought was the best ride ever.  It was called The Speed Of Light.  It beat Kingda Ka's record.  It was a 460 foot drop going at 130 mph.  It was so awesome I almost cried.  We also went on a pretty cool ride called Loopy Loop.  You start up and go into 4 loops.  Then you do a few drops and 3 more loops.  I wonder why it's called Loopy Loop.  Another great one was Pirate Island.  It starts out with you in a car and all of the sudden the room turns dark.  Then the ride starts, there are a lot of drops and at a lot of different times you see pirates and a lot of different stuff too.  Then there is a sudden stop and the ride is over.  It's garneted to make you scream!!!  I also liked Black beards Ship.  That was really exciting!!!  You start out in a pirates ship and it looks like you are in water.  Then you go down a lot of steep drops and you turn on your side and everything!!  That was defiantly one of my favorites.  Oh, and we were also aloud to do bungy jumping which was a lot of fun.  It was cool to do flips and go upside down.  There were also a lot of performers.  They were all so cool.  Clowns, face painters you name it!!!  Then we had lunch.  It tasted amazing I would go back there to eat anytime!!!  Then we went to the arcade.  I won a ton of cool stuff, like a lava lamp and a mini disco ball.  After the arcade we went back to the amazing rides!!!  They had a lot of rides that a lot of theme parks would have.  The log flume and swinging pirate ships, but it was still a lot of fun!!!  Then we went on the haunted house.  It was so scary I screamed my head off!!!  I lost my voice!!!  At the very end we got to go to the candy shop and pick out 20 dollars worth of candy each!!!  It was so much fun!!  It is the ultimate theme park!!!

      Hi everyone!  Today is career day.  I don't know what to be yet but I do have a lot of choices.  I could be a lawyer, a docter, or a laxcross player.  What do you think I should be?  I'm clueless!  Here I will give you all of the pros and cons then you tell me what you think!

The 10 Foot Long, 1 Foot and a Half Inch High, and 4 Inch Thick Brick Wall

 

       Hello, my name is Alice.  Right now I'm building a 10 foot long, 1 foot and a half inch high, and 4 inch thick brick wall.  You want to know why?  It's a long story, but if you insist on it.

       It was raining outside and everyone was bored to death.  My younger brother Alex suddenly took an interest in rabbits.  So he went on and on that day about how he would catch rabbits and train them to do tricks.  I thought his idea was absurd!!  But my mother made me keep my mouth shut.  Then at dinner time, when he brought it up again I couldn't keep my mouth shut any longer.  I told him that it was crazy and would never happen in a million years!!  He said that it would and he could do whatever he wanted to do.  Then I bet him that he couldn't even catch a rabbit.  Then my parents made us stop. After dinner I told him that he couldn't catch a rabbit if his life depended on it.  Then he said that if he could catch a rabbit within 2 weeks I would have to build a wall.  A 10 foot long, 1 foot and a half inch high, and 4 inch thick brick wall.  I shook his hand and said deal.  I saw him outside everyday with his ridiculous ideas.  He had a carrot on a string and pulled it into a cage hopping a rabbit would follow the carrot into the cage.  But as the days passed his ideas got better and he got closer to catching a rabbit.  One day he was outside and he had a stick holding up a box with a carrot inside.  So I asked him how he was supposed to catch a rabbit with that.  He said that a rabbit would see the carrot and go after it.  Then it would hit the stick and the box would fall on the rabbit trapping it.  I was getting a little nervous because that idea wasn't half bad.  Actually it was really good!!  So I went to school that day thinking about if he would catch a rabbit.  When I came home there was Alex sitting with a rabbit on his lap.  And you can figure the rest out yourself. 

     So here I am building a 10 foot long, 1 foot and a half inch high, and 4 inch thick brick wall.  I bet he made me build this just to get me annoyed.  Oh, well I'm almost done.  Just one more thing, finished.  "Hey Alex I'm finished.  What do you want this wall for anyways?".  "You will see." 

     Hey, it's Alice and it is three days after I last talked to you.  You will never believe what Alex is doing.  He is using the wall I made to try and teach his new rabbit (who he calls Peter) to jump over it.  Now the rabbit will probably run away.  He will be so sad.  I better tell him not to.  Bye I'll tell you how this goes later.

     Hi everyone!!!!!  I have a question to ask you.  If you could either have an inside or outside classroom what would it be?  I would choose an outside classroom.  I would choose an outside classroom because then you could have a lot of fresh air you can think straigth and enjoy the nature.  But I would make a few adjustments.  For one there will be an actual class room but it would be almost like a little room all by itself so when you open the door you would be outside.  There would also be huge windows that you can open to have a lot of fresh air.  But more than half of the day the class would be outside, only for some reasons would they be inside.  Maybe for lunch and other lessons that absolutly have to be inside.  To make this work you would have a chalk board that would roll so you could bring it outside, a couple of blankets that you could sit on, and a tray that you would put on your lap to do your work.  This would be a much better environment to learn in.  The fresh air will help you clear your head and learn better.  It is much better than being locked up in a room all day.  What do you think?

      Hi!!! What are you guys up to?  I'm really sorry I haven't written in a while!!!  Today my class went to buddy day!!!!  Buddy day is where a fifth grade class goes to the middle school and is assigned a sixth grade buddy.  During the time you are at the middle school you go with your buddy to their classes. Then you go to lunch with them and then you go back to your school.  My day was really fun.  I had a buddy named Victoria.  She was really nice.  The first two periods were ELA.  The first period they took a test, I was offered to take it to but everyone was almost over so I didn't.  Second period we read a book.  I caught on really quickly because they weren't in the book that far.  It was a very interesting book- and I'm not just saying that.  Then my buddy and I went to Tec. or shop.  In Tec. you build a lot of different things out of wood.  But we didn't have a lot of time to get there, we had to move quickly.  There the teacher taught us to shalack the wood and make it really shine.  I really enjoyed Tec.  Lunch time was really hectic, but it was still fun.  I now know that the lunch lines are really long so you have to get there early if you want to buy lunch.  I ran into my neighbor Casey, it was nice to talk to her for a little. I also found out that the food there is really good.  My buddy's friends were really nice!!!  I had soooooooooooo much fun!!!  I can't wait until next year.

     Hi everyone!!!!  I'm back from vacation!!!  I had sooooooooooooooo much fun!!!  On Saturday I had to wake up at 4:00am to get ready to leave to go to FDlorida.  The plane trip went pretty well, then when my family and I got to the house we rented in Water Color Inn I went swimming with my brothers.  My cousins were suppose to be there already, but their plane was cancled so they had to drive there and then later that night they got there.  The next day we went down to the lake and went fishing.  During the whole week we did a lot of things. We went to the beach a lot even though it was very ruff we still enjoyed it.  In the resort there was four pools.  There was the main pool right near the beach that was really fun, but i twaws also very crowed.  There was a pool near our house that was very nice and never ever crowded.  And it was next to the resturant the bait house and the lake.  My favorite pool was the frog pool.  It was a pool with three frogs that squrted water out.  The pool was always really warm so everyone went in it.  My cousin and I named all of the frogs.  the first one was Omar, the second one was Sherman (my cousin and I kissed Sherman) and the third one was Zah Zah.  But we never found the fourth pool.  We also went fishing and I caught 6 fish.  And when we got back from vacation we celebrated Easter with my grandparents.  Then Monday I went shopping with Melissa and Tuesday I went over to my friend Alex's.  BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!

     Hello everyone! The play went great!  Exept Melissa was sick so she couldn't come to the p.m. performance. I feel real ly bad for her.  It was fun performing infront of your parents.  My mom and dad said that it was great!!!!!!  Oh, and I'm going away in about 19 hours and 40 minutes. I can't wait!!!!!!!!  I' going to Florida!!!  The resort I'm going to is called Water Color Inn.  And in about five minutes my class is going to the planiterium!  I really don't know what we are going to do there, but I hope it will be fun!!!!  I wish Melissa was here then it would be really really fun!!  Melissa, if you are reading this feel better!!!!!!!! Oh, sorry it's time to go to the planiterium! BYE!!!!!!

     Hello my fan club!  Just kidding!  Guess what, today is my birthday!  I'm very excited!!!!!  I got a bike, clothes, bathing suits, a simon giftcard, a ballerina necklace, bathing suit coverup, and that's all I got (so far).  Also the play is tomorrow!  I'm the snake Kaa, remember.  You should come see the play, you will love it! I garenty!!  Also tonigh tfor my birthday I'm going to a resturant called Sushi Ya!  And for my birthday I brought in a big cookie!!  I thougth it tasted awsome!  I think every one else did too.  It said Happy 11th Birthday Julia.  Oh, sorry I didn't write so much but I have to go.  Bye!!!

     Hi everyone.  What is going on?  I'm really sorry I haven't been writing, I've been really buzy.  Guess what.  It's my birthday in 8 days, I'm so excited!!  The play is in 9 days.  Also in 11 days I'm in Florida.  I'm so excited, I can't wait.  But I'm going to be really busy getting ready for everything.  So if I don't write that much don't get mad at me.  I'm going to Florida with my family and cousins.  The resort we are going to is called Water Color Inn.  It is really cool, I picked our house out.  Oh, and this Friday I'm going to Little Shop of Horrors at the High School with my friend Melissa.  My dads side of the family lives in Philly and they did that play once.  Some of my family was in the play.  It was really good.  I really liked the plant.  It looked really funny when the plant ate the person.  Oh, sorry I have to go.      Hi!  What is going on.  I won my basketball game and now I am going to the championships.  Now I have to face Casey (my friend) in the championship.  Casey is pretty good.  Oh, and in my dance class we are dancing to The Copa Cobana.  We are going to have really pretty costumes.  They are going to be kind of like the dancing with the stars costumes with the frilly sleeves.  But we have to get on the floor at the begining of the song.  Oh well, the dance will still be really really fun.  Oh, and guess what, my birthday is in 16 days! I don't really know what I want ,but I hope I told my friends enough so they get me a good gift.

   Hi everybody what is up!!!  I just came back from the science fair! it was awsome!  I went walking around with Melissa.  She also has a wiki.  It was so fun because we were anly aloud to go for about 5 minutes in each room so we were having a speed tutorial of each project.  They had a lot of crystle stands so we went to all of them.  I thought the best one was where you got to dig for rocks.  Melissa and I found one but we didn't have enough time to get it out.  I also went and visited all of the third graders I know.

     Hi!  I'm really sorry I didn't write in a long time, I just got caugth up.  Guess what, the play is in 22 days!!  My charecter Kaa is having a little costume problem.  We were going to have a silver tube around our shoulders but we changed the way we are attached.  At first we were holding onto the other persons shoulder but now we are holding hands.  I'm sure it will work out sooner or later.  We are also trying to finish our blocking on the song trust in me.  I think we are finishing it tomorrow.  It will turn out great(not braging).  Oh and guess what.  My birthday is the day before the play.  I'm going to have a really cool party(still not braging),probably going to be at Sushi Ya and invite a couple of friends.  Then after we will go to my house and maybe watch a movie.  I might even torchure my friends and watch House.  This week in House he pretended to have brain cancer and everyone found out and they all tried to help him but then they found out he was faking it.  I love Huge Larie as House(I don't know how to spell his name and I don't really LOVE him I just love his acting).  Did you know he is really really british and he is awsome at being american.  Bye for now!!!

     Hi everybody!!  Guess what.  My basment is almost done!  They have been workingn on it for 2 months.  Now they havew the landry room done, the storage room, the carpet installed, the TV in the basement, the couches back in the basement, and all we have to do now is get the 2nd TV and the TV tables and we are done!!!  I'm so excited!  Now I can have all of my friends over and we can play in the basement!!!!  My mom said that my brother and I can have a party!  My mom said it will probably be done thtis weekend!  Also I'm going to go to a place in Phily to go snowboarding!  I'm going with my cousins like I do every year.  My family doesn't go skiing(or snowboarding in my and my cousins sitiation).  I know that the first day of snowboarding will be hard, but the second day will be awsome!  I will most likely go on the bunny hill with my younger cousin (by 1 year) and then I will get the hang of it.

    Hi!  What is up?  I just read a pretty cool article that is called "Python Patrol".  It was talking about how some owners sometimes leave their pets in the wild (natinal parks).  People think that baby snakes or any other exotic pets are cute when they are babys  but grow up and it's to expensive to take care of them or they are to big.  The article said that the bburmese python is the largest snake in a pet you should find out how big the animal will get, how much woll it eat and how much it will coast to keep this pet for it's lifetime.  I think that is great advice!  So if you are considering getting a pet you should make sure you find out these facts first.  Oh, happy Valentines Day!!       Hi readers!  I just read a really intresting article called "Schools Eye the Scale".  It was about schools giving out report cards on kids weight.  I don't know about you but this doesn't  sound to great to me.  They say they are doing it to decrease the number of over weight kids in U.S.A.  Some people say it would be good so familys to work on oeating more healthy but others say it could make people feel insicure about themselfs.  I am definatly the second one.  There is something that is called BMI which stands for Body Mass Index.  The BMI is a calculation that compares a persons weight with their weight.  A kids BIM also factor in age and height. I think we shouldn't have health report cards.  What do you think?

     Hey everyone I'm back!!  Today is my best friend Melissa's birthday!  Yesterday in class we chose to do a writing assignment "When I Grow Up".  Guess what, my daddy's com pamy won some award and they had to make a speach and have a funny video to entertain people.  So they picked a video called "When I Grow Up" that was on U Tube! The company need e someone to act everything out and my brother and I were one of those people!  It was a lot of fun!  There was a green screen and everything!  My daddy said that after the award ceromony that they would put it on there website.  I would tell you the site it's on but I can't.  I will tell you when it is up.  I wish I could just hand in the video insstead of write something! Got to go !

     Hey!  This weekend was awsome!  Saturday I had a basketball game!  I scored 2 baskets and we won the game!  The game started off with my team winning 10 to 0.  Then coach said we had to stop scoring because we didn't want to crush them.  The other team caught  up really quickly and soon it was 10 to 8.  then coach told us we could score.  Soon we were up by a lot and coach told us don't stop shooting because they caught up really quikly last time.  Then it was almost the end of the game and we were still shooting so the game ended and then we relized that we were suppose to stop shooting.  Oh well, at least we won! Sorry got to go.

     Guess what hapened this week!  Cleft puppies had surgery and they are doing good!  Thier names are Magic and Merlin.  They were born with cleft palates and had to get surgery.  They were rescued by the Little Shelter Animal Adoption Center in Huntington when they were barely three days old!  The two puppies are now on pain medications.  They are wearing medal collars so they won't scratch thier mouths.  The vets will soon determine how many more surgeries they will need.  The surgeries have been donated by Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists.  Don't you feel so happy for the cute puppies, I do!

Favorite Food

     I have a lot of different foods that I enjoy but my favorite is the panini. I had my first panini at Cafe Berocca. I went with my mommy and friend Melissa (who also has an online journal). When we got there I ordered a panini with Melissa because I wanted to try something different (although Melissa has already had a peanini). At first I was a little nervous to try it. When I did I though that it was the best thing I've ever tasted!! Now my mom says that we have to bring my daddy to Cafe Berocca sometime soon. I can't wait!!!!TTYL(that means talk to you later)!!!

     Hey I'm back! What's up? Well, I just got back from lunch and recess. Before I went to lunch I went to the Kaa coil meeting. Oh, I forgot to tell you about the play. Well the play is the Jungle Book and it's for all of the fifth grade!  Oh, and guess what, I'm a part of Kaa(there are 12 Kaas altogether)! Kaa is a snake in the play. He is evil and tries to eat Mowgli. My friend is also Kaa and her name is Casey. She has a journal too, you should check it out.      Hello everybody, my name is Julia .this is my first entry on the Wiki and it is soooooooo much fun!!!!! Mr. Pollit is soooooo cool to let us have a class wiki. I think it is a great idea!! This Saturday I went into  New York City! It was a lot of fun!!! I went with my mommy, my Aunt Kathy, and my little cousin Sammy. When we first got in the city, we went to get my Aunt Kathy and Sammy twofer tickets to Mama Mia, but they didnt have any more tickets! So then my Aunt and cousin went to Beauty and the Beast. Then we went to Jouniors and had lunch. It was so much fun!!!!
